When I embarked upon the journey to run for Miami Beach Commissioner, I promised to be a candidate not isolated from the residents, one who shares in their individual journeys, and who draws both strength and wisdom from them too.

During the past five months, I’ve spoken on many occasions about local concerns including the need to further diversify and strengthen our local economy, the need to rejuvenate and breathe new life into our alleyways and Deco neighborhoods, the need to invest in transportation options that plan and invest in the future, the need to aggressively polish and strengthen the city’s sophisticated marketing brand and more.

The campaign to serve as Commissioner also confirmed my belief in the decency and the strength and the wisdom of everyday Miami Beach residents. It also bore out some longstanding concerns about the city’s underlying problems.

During my discussions with residents, I have heard statements like, “We want a commissioner with an understanding of the common good” and “I feel like ordinary people are excluded from political power.”

I will continue to remain engaged within the City. When I campaign again to humbly serve as Commissioner, we can again act together. Securing a sustainable future and a new narrative will take all of us working together.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to run a robust and positive campaign and represent a new generation that is willing, able and qualified to lead our city into the future. I remain confident in the city’s future. This confidence serves as a link between generations. I believe in progress, and that the days of future residents and our children can be better than our own.

With God’s help, let us commit ourselves together in a rebirth for our beautiful city and continue to make our voices heard in City Hall. Working together with our common faith we cannot fail.
